Week 26: The Patriots picked up 6 more points to increase their lead to 31 points over the Cape Codgers. Can’t you guys (Patriots) take it “easy” on the rest of us?

Bob “Darwin” Callahan had a high scratch game of 188.

Week 27: The “boys” came alive. Scratch games: Will Helmlinger (246 and 203), Dave Cady (200), Mike Curtis (193). Handicap series: Ernie Messmer (the Villanova Flash) had a 672 series; Will Helmlinger (the President) had a series of 664; Doug Scott (the Bus Driver) had a 623 series.

Will Helmlinger single handedly destroyed the Patriots. Can the Go-Getters do it? Come on Peter and George!

Forrest Casterline brought up an interesting point. Who holds the high scratch game? Forrest said he had a 280, but someone else had a 292. Gerry, HELP!!!!!

Remember we still bowl through April. See you all at the lanes.

    Until next time.

    BREAKING NEWS:

At the monthly Osterville Men’s Club Luncheon at the Hyannis Yacht Club, Gerry Fortier was presented with an inscribed trophy, two signed bowling pins, and a bowling pin bank (complete with a starter kit of 100 pennies). The bowling league members, and the OMC Executive Committee, voted to rename the league to the: Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League. Gerry was asked to read the trophy’s inscription in front of over 60 members. This caught him completely off-guard. This is the first time I have seen Gerry completely speechless. If you missed the monthly luncheon, you missed a good time. The room was alive!! Gerry – you deserved everything and more. You are my buddy forever. And the meal was good too (just ask George French).

At the Lanes: Week 24 and 25

HO-HUM! Patriots with a huge 27-point lead. I’m tired of seeing the names of Mark Sabina, Steve Briggs, Gary Molyneaux, and Charlie Dings. You guys are getting “too much PRESS.”

Dave Cady with a 206 and 201. Who has more 200 games than Dave this season? The “Albany Flyer” or the “President?”

Newcomers Jeff Teixeira (243 with handicap) and Frank Serra (222 with handicap) are coming around. Way to go guys!

Where is Bob Callahan? Found out he’s on the Galapagos Islands trying his best to pick up where Darwin left off. Will his bowling “evolve” after his visit there?

See you next Thursday at 10am at the “Gerry R. Fortier Bowling League.”

Weeks 22 and 23, the same old story. Patriots are now up by 27 points. Gary Molyneaux with a single game handicap of 226. And a handicap series of 629. WOW!

Karl Peterson with a 203. Tom Rezendes with a 212. Way to go guys!

Karl Peterson has really been rolling the ball. Great 2 weeks, after being in a prolonged and atypical slump all year.

And Peter Dornemann did us up, the Bull Horns. A season high 242 and 612 series (with handicap). Peter, you’re not my buddy any more.

Come visit us at the lanes (Ryan’s in South Yarmouth), every Thursday through April. We start bowling at 10:00am sharp! You will enjoy your visit.

    See you there!

Team Patriots keep rolling along. They are 17 points in the lead going into week #22. The team consists of Mark Sabina, Steve Briggs, Gary Molyneaux and Charlie Dings. They really pick each other up.

Week 20 saw no 200 games. However, week 21 had “the President” with a 232. Will Helmlinger tied Monte Gilardi for the single game high this season.

Don MacDonald joins us as a new bowler. He knew right away what to do, bowling pretty good for this first time. Welcome Don!

Dave Cady, Paul Gonyea, Gary Molyneaux, Karl Peterson and the “Candyman” (Bill Plifka) have NOT missed a day of bowling this season. Congratulations to all and hope your perfect attendance continues the rest of the season.

On a final note, has anyone heard from my friend, Dow Davis? Life must be pretty good in Mystic, CT. Be careful with that drawbridge - Dow.

See you all at the bowling lanes.

Week 19 has the Patriots with a commanding 17 point lead over the cape Codgers.

Mark Sabina, Steve Briggs, Gary Molyneaux, and Charlie Dings. Keep turning ball all comers. WATCH OUT!!

Week 20 you have The Bull Horns.  In 3 weeks they have picked up 20 points. The Bull Horns are out of the cellar.

    Will Helmlinger 203

    Dave Cady 203

    Ken Leonard 200

Kenny Leonard, a member of the “Old Guard” (Over 90) had his second 200 game. “Kenny Dead-Eye” - A name given to him by Doug Scott – really lives up to his name.

    See ya at the Lanes.

    ·     We’re into our 17th week of bowling. Week 16 saw the Patriots losing all 8 points while the Cape Codgers picking up all 8. The standings are tightening up!

    ·     Week 17 was a different story. Mark Sabina’s bowling for the Patriots showed how the “heavies” of Brockton really operate.

    ·     Back-to-back 200 games for Mark – 211 and 201; first time this season for anyone. He also had the high string with handicap (262) and league high for this season. Next: 3 strings with handicap (713) and league high for this season. Most pins above average (57) and league high for this season. Whew, Mark. I’m exhausted just writing all your accomplishments. Way to go!

    ·     Wait; there’s more. Mark carries the Patriots to taking 6 points of and from second place Cape Codgers. By the way, Mark is an accomplished singer at Corpus Christi RC Church in East Sandwich. Catch him every Sunday at 7:30am.

    ·     Mark, did we leave anything out?

    ·     The Bull Horns were on the very of losing 6 points to the Go-Getters this past week. The Bull Horns were down 70 pins going into the 10th frame. Enough is enough! Don Lee and Will Helmlinger rolled 7 strikes in the last two frames, taking 6 points from the Go-Getter. Watch out for the Bull Horns, as there’s only one way up for them-holding onto last place the entire first half of the season.

Tidbits from the Bowling Lanes at South Yarmouth Dec 2,  2024

After 9 weeks of competition, we have a new Leader – “The Patriots”.
    Mark Sabina
    Steve Briggs
    Gary Molyneaux
    Charlie Dings

Three weeks of bowling found only two (200) games, and both by the same man:

    Will Helmlinger 204, 207

    Week 11
Stan Goldstein, a handicap series of 625. Tops for the week!
Stanley, Stanley, where have you been?!

QUESTION: What bowler throws more strikes and gutter balls??

ANSWER: Dave Cady… Your opinion please.

Time to talk about my favorite person, with the initials of a Sports Car – the MG, aka Monti Gilardi – the retired Forensic State Trooper.
He holds the season high single game (232). I also saw him have a 211, 102 (yes, a 102) and finished off with a 182. If Monti could only make the #10 Pin!

See ya at the lanes. Still looking for a few more bowlers.
