Week 14 - The “Four Aces” are still leading and there is an interesting story behind this. Dave (the Albany Flyer) Cady had his worst day in years. His legs are causing him trouble. Along comes Bob Caprioano, Don Lee and company to pick up the “Four Aces” and split with the “Bad Boys” – who are not “bad” anymore.

Don Lee wins a poinsettia with a 245-handicap game. Don Lee is “Mr. Dead Eye.”

Bruce Burger wins the other poinsettia with a 630-handicap series. Bruce is a first-year bowler with us. Way to go, Bruce!

I’m looking for bowlers to be put into my “Tennis Club.” Watch out!

Anyone interested in another Super Bowl pool???

See you all on Thursday, December 18, which is the last time we bowl before taking a break the holidays!

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    December 2, 2025

Week 12 had the “Dudes” facing the “Bad Boys.” The “Dudes” handed the “Bad Boys” an “old-fashioned whipping.” The “Bad Boys’ are not “bad” anymore. They are acting like a bunch of “choir boys.”

    Week’s team top scores:

Team Scratch Game – Dudes with a 724

Team Scratch Series – Dudes with a 2084

Team Handicap Game – Dudes with a 982

Team Handicap Series – Dudes with a 2858

Bob (the Ambassador) Callahan led the team with a week high of 605. To think, I almost had him in the ”tennis club.”

Jimmy Dunbar – WE WANT TO SEE YOU!

Kenny Leonard – WE ALSO MISS YOU. I need help holding up the “old guard.”

Monte (the Trooper) Gilardi has a birthday coming up – December 8. Happy Birthday!!

See you all at the lanes this Thursday December 4!

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    November 18, 2025

Week 11 had the “Four Aces” and the “Pretenders” tied for first place. They faced each other – “head-on.” The “Four Aces” were red hot and they gave the “Pretenders” a good old fashioned “whipping.”

    • ·         Bob Caprio bowled 23 pins above his average.
    • ·         Don (Gentleman Don) Lee was 21 pins above his average.
    • ·         Mark (Polish tenor) Sabina was 41 pins his average and a new season high 259 with his handicap.
    • ·         Dave (Albany Flyer) Cady was 17 pins above his average.

The “Pretenders” were without the “President” who was out sick. Could he have made up the difference?

Dave Cady – 228 season high game

    Mark Sabina – 210 game

    Don Lee – 205 game

    Way to go, guys!

See you all Thursday! Bring your “A” game.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    November 10, 2025

A few weeks ago, Jimmy (Lefty) Ruane helped to destroy the “Bad Boys.” He was 33 pins above his average. Now, Week 10: he bowls a 164 (handicap game of 236). There is “no quit” in this guy!!! Jimmy had done much for OMC – Bottle Redemption as his “cup of tea.” What a job he has done for OMC. Thank you and welcome back to being a regular substitute bowler.

Mike Curtis was “hot, hot, hot.” We 9, he had a handicap game of 249 and a handicap series of 693. These are both season highs – so far! Keep it up, Mike.

Is it true that the “Dudes” went 0 for 17 on the Red Pins? Pris money keeps going up. Thanks, guys for your efforts and “financial” contributions (25 cents for each missed Red Pin ). Maybe there will be a year-end “reward” for this 0 for 17 performance?

“Jar Heads” whipped the “Bad Boys.” Doug (the Bus Driver) Scott had a 615-handicap series – 25 pins over his average. Forest Casterline had a 606-handicap series – 22 pins over his average.

The match of the year is coming up in Week 11. The “Four Aces” and “The Pretenders” are both in first place. Both have a record of 60-20. Dave Cady vs. Will Helmlinger’s team.

We need more candy! Got any “left-overs” from Trick or Treat night? No tricks from me!

    See you all Thursday!

I must retract my words. Monte (the Trooper) Gilardi does make the 10 pin – occasionally!!

Welcome aboard a new “sub” – Bruce Farrell.

The “Candyman” has a surprise this coming Thursday the 18th. George French will be happy.

Monte (The Trooper) Gilardi was in “mid-season” form with a scratch game of 224. If he could only learn to make the 10 pin.   Got a prize for you, Monte. See you Thursday.

John (The Banker) Conant had a 199. Sorry, I can’t call it. Better luck next time.

Jim Ruane bowled as a sub. Great to see you at the lanes again. Thank you! Thank you Jimmy for all you have done for OMC.

Great to see Frank Ward. He is back. He had a 183 score in one of his games.

Candy! Candy! Thanks guys! Keep ’em coming.

    See you all Thursday.

Week 26: The Patriots picked up 6 more points to increase their lead to 31 points over the Cape Codgers. Can’t you guys (Patriots) take it “easy” on the rest of us?

Bob “Darwin” Callahan had a high scratch game of 188.

Week 27: The “boys” came alive. Scratch games: Will Helmlinger (246 and 203), Dave Cady (200), Mike Curtis (193). Handicap series: Ernie Messmer (the Villanova Flash) had a 672 series; Will Helmlinger (the President) had a series of 664; Doug Scott (the Bus Driver) had a 623 series.

Will Helmlinger single handedly destroyed the Patriots. Can the Go-Getters do it? Come on Peter and George!

Forrest Casterline brought up an interesting point. Who holds the high scratch game? Forrest said he had a 280, but someone else had a 292. Gerry, HELP!!!!!

Remember we still bowl through April. See you all at the lanes.

    Until next time.
