OMC members enjoyed an informative and potentially lifesaving presentation by Dr. Anil Vyas on the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and how to protect ourselves and our families.
Dr. Vyas explained how carbon monoxide—an odorless and colorless gas—can build up in homes and other enclosed spaces, often without warning. He discussed common sources of CO, the symptoms of exposure, and the importance of having properly placed and functioning carbon monoxide detectors.
Of particular interest was his warning that carbon monoxide poisoning can also occur while traveling, including in hotels where guests may be unaware of potential sources of CO. Dr. Vyas recommended carrying a small portable carbon monoxide monitor when traveling as an additional precaution.
His presentation was a timely reminder that a simple, inexpensive device and a little awareness can potentially prevent a serious or even fatal incident. We thank Dr. Vyas for sharing his expertise and giving OMC members some very practical advice for protecting themselves and their families.
