2008 Annual Scholarship
Report Chair Ken Ballou
The Osterville Men's Club annually awards $13,000 in scholarships
to qualified graduating seniors at
The recipients receive their checks after they present first
semester transcripts certifying they are in good standing. In actuality, the
overwhelming majority have become honor students in college. The youngsters
have attended a wide array of both private and public institutions including
Duke, McGill, Harvard, B.C., B.U., Northeastern, Stonehill, U. Mass, U. of
Texas, the U. of Virginia just to name a few.
Those selected are usually in the top 5-10 percent of the
senior class, have above average College Board examination scores, strong
backgrounds in school and community activities, demonstrate financial need and
create highly favorable interview impressions.
The Class of 2007 winners have all received their checks and
have again proven to be outstanding college students and citizens. This spring
the Class of 2008 submitted 55 applications for our six scholarships-a very strong
ratio of better than 9-1. The committee recently completed the review process and
selected the following six recipients.
